On Thursday, August 6th, Larry O'Brien resumed his duties as Mayor at the conclusion of his three month leave of absence. It was an honour to have served as Deputy Mayor in May and June. I now resume the position of Deputy Mayor, following my role as Acting Mayor during the month of July.

GLENGARRY HIGHLAND GAMES

On Saturday, August 1st, Mary Lynne and I represented the City of Ottawa at the opening of the 62nd Glengarry Highland Games in Maxville. It is a truly amazing experience to see the Massed Bands Performance with over 50 Pipe and Drum Bands in the field at one time. This year's Highland Games celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Ontario Provincial Police.

Osgoode Ward can be proud of the many visitors and Games Volunteers from our Community, who helped make the 2009 Glengarry Highland Games so successful!

With the summer season in full swing, residents are reminded that pesticides, herbicides and old, rusty BBQ propane tanks can be brought to the HHW depots for safe disposal.
