Farmers' Markets in Ottawa
With the arrival of spring, farmers' markets are set to open soon across Ottawa. Be sure to visit for the vegetables, fruit, meat, arts and crafts and other products that local producers have to offer.
Summer Camps 2013

Community Partnership Minor Capital Program
The Community Partnership Minor Capital Program is an initiative available for minor capital improvements to city-owned parks, recreation and cultural facilities on a cost-sharing basis with community groups. Examples include: play equipment, basketball courts, park furniture, tree planting, landscape improvements, minor community facility improvements, etc. Projects on school board land and other public lands that are accessible to the general public may also be eligible. Farm Grant Program
City Council approved a Farm Grant Program to provide financial relief to working farmers. The grant program will assist eligible farm property owners by allowing the June final tax instalment to be paid in December.
To qualify for the grant, the following conditions must be met:

The property must be defined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation in the farmlands property class

The property must not be owned by a commercial enterprise
-
Taxes have been paid up to date before the June instalment
-
The final tax instalment billed (mailed May) is paid in full in early December
How the program will work:
-
Penalty charges will continue
-
Issuance of Reminder Notices will continue
-
Notification of the amount to be paid will be communicated to you in the fall
-
The grant amount will be the equivalent of the penalty charges and fees added to your account during the deferral

The City will automatically calculate and apply a credit for the grant amount to your tax account; there is no application to fill out.

Farm Credit Canada AgriSpirit Fund
Fundraising? Maybe Farm Credit Canada (FCC) can help. If your organization is raising money for a capital project, it may qualify for a donation between $5,000 and $25,000 to supplement your other fundraising efforts.
The FCC AgriSpirit Fund is about making life better for people in rural communities. Successful projects in the past have included hospitals and medical centres, childcare facilities, fire and rescue equipment, playgrounds, food banks, libraries, recreation centres and community gardens. Applications are being accepted until June 18.
