- November 2000 was elected to the new City of Ottawa Council as Councillor for Ward 20, which came into effect on January 1, 2001.
- November 2003 acclaimed as Councillor for Osgoode Ward and re-elected in November 2006 with the highest percentage vote of any City Councillor.
